Article 2/5 of the serie : How to create your cosmetic brand in Morocco : A step by step guide

Have you created a universe for your brand? Do you already have a clear idea of the positioning you want to have in your market?  And of the customers you want to target?

Not yet? To see more clearly, we invite you to consult our article on ‘Creating your Cosmetics Brand’, the first of our series “How to create your cosmetics brand in Morocco: from A to Z”.

Already read it? Now let’s focus on creating your products.

1. Find a GMP certified laboratory

First step, find a supplier of raw materials and natural cosmetics with regulatory quality standards.

Your Moroccan supplier must be registered as a manufacturing laboratory with the Moroccan board of therapeutic goods (DMP) (Direction du Médicament et de la Pharmacie) in Morocco. It must also be approved by the Food  Export Control and Coordination organization Morocco Foodex.

The best guarantee of quality that your supplier can give you is its compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) (Bonnes Pratiques de Fabrication (BPF)). Compliance with all guidelines for the production, control, storage and shipment of cosmetic products is validated by the certification to ISO 22716, obtained by the laboratory.

On another hand, if you are looking for a specific additional certification to your brand (“Cosmos”, “Ecocert” …), you will need to make sure that your partner laboratory complies with the label’s requirements. It must be able to provide you with the necessary documentation to justify compliance with the standards referred to by the Certification Body.

2. Create your product line

The laboratory must be able to provide you with a wide enough range of choices when it comes to product offering; which would allow you to build the product line of your choice.  You can choose from a selection of ranges already developed by the supplier or request a specific development according to your criteria.

The range of products must be consistent with your focus. As mentioned in our first article, the more your products differ from others, the greater your chances of standing out. This is why Prodigia advises you to select one or many ingredients or main products for your first range.
