L’appellation “Rhassoul” vient du mot arabe “rhassala” qui signifie “laver”. C’est une argile saponifère, qui possède un pouvoir nettoyant, et dont l’unique gisement actuellement connu au monde se trouve au Maroc; situé en bordure du moyen Atlas dans la vallée de la Moulouya à 200 km de la ville de Fès.
