Avocado is the king of “good fats” thanks to its high concentration of monounsaturated fatty acids, known as Omega-9. Just as eating avocado is good for the body, a good dose of its oil has many benefits on the skin and hair. Find out all you need to know about avocado oil in this article:
From its botanical name Persea Gratissima, avocado oil is obtained thanks to a method of extraction by cold pressing: after mixing the avocado pulp with lukewarm water, the paste obtained is kneaded and then centrifuged in order to to recover the virgin oil separately from the water.
Yellow to dark green in color and a thick oily liquid appearance, sometimes cloudy, which can naturally have a pulpy appearance and have plant deposits. This vegetable oil can also partially solidify if it is placed in the cold, due to its fatty acid composition.
Avocado oil: virgin or refined, what's the difference?
Unrefined oil is oil that has not undergone any further processing after pressing: some unrefined oils can still be mechanically filtered to remove impurities. A refined oil, on the other hand, undergoes more processing and loses its original color and odor.
Natural refining is a process that has been used recently: in this case, the oil is refined mechanically, rather than using chemicals. Thus, it does not lose any advantages as with conventional refining with chemicals. Refined oil is best in formulations.
And at Prodigia, we offer you both: Refined Avocado Oil and Virgin Avocado Oil. It’s up to you to choose which of the two most closely matches your target categories, whether you want to market it pure or incorporate it into your cosmetic products.
