Natural powders

In the world of natural cosmetics, one of the most widely used forms of natural extracts are natural powders. They offer several possibilities of use, being characterized by several properties and benefits for the skin and for the hair. In addition, these powders are jewels of Moroccan (and international) beauty secrets. We’re telling you all about it in this article.

For your brand, natural powders can be used as a basic ingredient in your cosmetic preparations : as a mask, mixed with other natural powders, hydrosols, or natural oils. They can also be used as an aqueous macerate (or as an infusion), incorporated as an ingredient in the aqueous phase in your cosmetic formulas, to obtain : care products for the face and the body; creams, milks, oils, balms, powders, toning and purifying lotions, exfoliating treatments …

1. Ghassoul

Ghassoul is a clay mineral of volcanic origin, it is known for its very high absorption capacity ( 1.66 times its weight in water ). In addition, Ghassoul effectively eliminates fats and impurities, which has made it famous as  “washing soil”. Rich in minerals, Ghassoul is an excellent ingredient for taking care of the skin and hair and is one of the essential rituals of the hammam. The only known deposits in the world are located in Morocco, in the Moulouya valley, 200 km from Fez on the edge of the Middle Atlas. In Morocco, the recipes for Ghassoul are passed down from mother to daughter. It is often mixed with rose water, orange blossom, argan oil or essential oils to enhance the scents.

The ore is harvested in preserved places, free of any pollution, it is then dried in the sun, pulverized and sieved. For the skin : it is a gentle cleanser and degreaser, purifying, descaling, and softening. You can use Rhassoul as an ingredient to create your skin care line : masks, poultices and wraps, shower gels, soaps, creams, gels and lotions, cleansing masks for skin with imperfections, cleansing lotions for oily and sensitive skin, or Rhassoul soaps. For the hair : it is known to absorb excess sebum and impurities, and provides volume and plumping to the hair. For mixed to oily hair, Rhassoul can be used as an ingredient to make your line of shampoos and hair masks.

2. Clays

Clays have the property of absorbing liquids, they also have the ability to attach molecules to their surface, due to the fact that clays are negatively charged. The negative charge is explained by the presence of minerals ( the more the clay is concentrated in mineral salts, the more it will be negatively charged ). When the clay is in solution, it will attract the opposite positive ions from this solution and can exchange them once in contact with the skin. The clay will therefore participate in the remineralization and detoxification of the skin, by exchanging its mineral salts with toxins and impurities in the skin. This phenomenon allows clay to convey active ingredients and return them to the skin, hence the growing interest of consumers in clays.

There are several kinds of clays that you can adopt for your brand:

White (kaolin): Repairing, softening, and very soft. Recommended for delicate, sensitive, dry, dehydrated, and discomfort-prone skin, as well as for all hair and scalp types.

Red : Cleansing and purifying, detoxifying, absorbent, mattifying, stimulating and tonic. Recommended for sensitive, delicate, redness-prone and reactive skin, as well as for brown and red hair.

Pink : Absorbent, mattifying, restorative, healthy-looking, invigorating, and very soft. Recommended for sensitive, fragile, reactive and dull skin, as well as for all types of hair and scalps.

Green : Detoxifying, decongesting, cleanses, purifies and sanitizes the skin. Recommended for normal to oily skin prone to acne, as well as for combination to oily hair.

Clays are used as an ingredient for skin care: purifying masks, poultices and wraps, shower gels, soaps, creams, mattifying gels and lotions, slimming wraps …

As well as to make preparations for the hair: Shampoos and hair masks.

3. Red Poppy Powder(Aker Fassi)

Aker Fassi, composed of red poppy petals, is rich in active ingredients, especially mucilage and anthocyanins, which give it moisturizing, softening and anti-wrinkle properties. It contains flavonoids, which give it antioxidant properties and prevent the breakdown of elastin and hyaluronic acid naturally present in the skin. The tannins it contains have an astringent effect and are also antioxidants. It also contains alkaloids, especially rhœadine, which has calming and soothing properties. With its natural color pigments, Aker Fassi gives a slightly rosy and fresh complexion.

4. Nila Powder

The Nila Powder, this beauty secret was first discovered and used by the beautiful women of the Sahara. It’s a blue pigment that has many virtues and benefits : it brightens the skin and reduces the effects of sunlight, tightens the skin, helps reduce dark spots, reduces rough skin areas such as armpits, elbows and knees, helps keep skin young and luminous, gives skin an attractive scent and velvety softness, and is hydrating and antioxidant.

This powder can be incorporated into cosmetic products for the face, body and hair. For facial and body beauty treatments, Nila powder can be combined with other plant powder, vegetable oils, oily macerates, hydrosols, essential oils and vegetable glycerin.
